Concord Class of 2026 embraces the future
The Concord High School Class of 2026 celebrated its commencement ceremony with messages centered on relationships, perseverance and the opportunities that lie ahead.
Deputy Superintendent Dr. John LeGrand reminded graduates that education is about far more than academic achievement.
"The true purpose of education has never been a test score," LeGrand told graduates. "It has always been people."
School leaders highlighted the class's accomplishments and the connections students built throughout their high school years, emphasizing that support from family, friends, teachers and the broader community helped shape their success.
Student speaker Gabriella Claros reflected on the journey that brought the class to graduation day.
"The small goals, the big dreams, and the struggles got us to this moment," Claros said. "All of it mattered."
Administrators praised the Class of 2026 for demonstrating dedication, resilience and compassion throughout their time at Concord High School, whether in the classroom, on stage, in athletic competition or while overcoming personal challenges.
Fellow student speaker Jeremy Hachen encouraged graduates to embrace the future with optimism and an open mind.
"You haven't met everyone you're supposed to meet yet," Hachen said.
The ceremony celebrated not only academic achievements but also the growth and relationships that defined the students' high school experience. School officials said the class leaves Concord High prepared to pursue college, careers, military service and other opportunities.
As graduates turned their tassels and looked toward the next chapter, the message of the day was clear: resilience, meaningful connections and community support have prepared the Class of 2026 to step confidently into a world filled with possibility.
West Cabarrus celebrates achievements
Members of the West Cabarrus High School Class of 2026 were celebrated for their perseverance, resilience and achievements during commencement exercises, where speakers encouraged graduates to embrace challenges, continue learning and boldly pursue their futures.
Cabarrus County Schools Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki reminded graduates that their education extends far beyond the classroom.
"Education is not about preparing students for a single test," Kopicki said. "It is about preparing students for life."
School leaders reflected on the growth of the graduating class, noting that students navigated lessons, challenges and opportunities that helped shape them into young adults prepared for the next chapter of their lives.
Student speaker Amaya Pullen encouraged her classmates to move forward with confidence, even when the path ahead may seem uncertain.
"We don't need all the answers to keep going," Pullen said. "We just need the confidence to try."
School officials said the Class of 2026 demonstrated perseverance through challenges and continued to show up and succeed despite obstacles.
Fellow student speaker Samuel Mendiola challenged graduates to embrace authenticity and take risks as they move into adulthood.
"Be yourself. Be bold enough to look foolish, and be brave enough to fail. Live your dash," Mendiola said.
The message resonated with a class that school leaders described as resilient, courageous and determined throughout its high school journey.
Dr. Orlando Robinson praised the graduates' accomplishments both in and out of the classroom and encouraged them to continue pursuing excellence.
"Never stop moving, learning, growing, or striving for excellence," Robinson said.
School officials noted that the Class of 2026 built momentum through academic achievement while also making its mark in athletics, the arts and community service.
As the newest West Cabarrus alumni turned their tassels and celebrated with family and friends, they left with a shared message from commencement speakers: embrace challenges, continue growing and confidently write the next chapter of their stories.
