Two for One: Lorraine Bracco
TCM, beginning at 8 p.m.
Tonight, TCM primetime host Ben Mankiewicz is joined by actress Lorraine Bracco, who introduces two films of her choosing. First is 1955's The Rose Tattoo (pictured), based on Tennessee Williams' play and starring Anna Magnani as Serafina Delle Rose, a widowed Sicilian seamstress in a Gulf Coast community whose grief and romantic longing collide when she meets a truck driver played by Burt Lancaster. Magnani won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance. Bracco's second selection is the TCM premiere of La Vie en Rose (2007), the biographical drama starring Marion Cotillard as French singer Édith Piaf. Cotillard won the Best Actress Oscar for her physically and emotionally transformative performance.

It’s official — the summer’s most anticipated week of programming begins! Shark Week is back for its 38th season.
Collector’s Call

Rick Brewer is not your typical collector. Like most collectors, he loves toys and items from the ’70s and ’80s and, being handy as he is, he loves to restore them to what they looked like when he was a kid. But what sets Rick apart from other collectors is that he’s lost much of his memory, so when he sees an item from his past, it actually helps trigger memories of his childhood that might have otherwise been lost forever. He shows some of his most treasured items, including the CB radio he got for his fifth birthday, and the Sky Arrow set he only had faint memories of, but searched relentlessly to find a new one so that he could connect to his past. Our toy expert, Joel Magee, will put a value on Rick’s collection and bring a trade item that’ll certainly bring back some fond memories for him, but might not be enough to make a deal.

TCM, beginning at 8 p.m.
TCM's Instant Families theme features three films about unlikely bonds that form outside the usual definition of home. The evening begins with Charlie Chaplin's The Kid (1921), one of the great early feature-length comedies, with Chaplin's Tramp raising an abandoned child played by Jackie Coogan. 1987's Baby Boom (pictured) follows, starring Diane Keaton as a high-powered New York executive whose carefully managed life is upended when she unexpectedly inherits a baby. The night ends with Bachelor Mother (1939), a screwball comedy starring Ginger Rogers as a shopgirl mistakenly believed to have abandoned a baby, with David Niven as the department store heir who gets pulled into the confusion.
