Nonprofits invited to free workshop
Sign up now for April 9 session in Kannapolis
KANNAPOLIS — With about a week remaining, Cabarrus County nonprofit organizations are being urged to sign up for a free workshop focused on strengthening communication and engagement through branding and storytelling.
The Greater Cabarrus Foundation will host its next Agency Lunch & Learn, titled "Beyond Posting: Using Brand and Story to Strengthen Your Engagement," on Thursday, April 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 4855 Milestone Ave. in Kannapolis. The session is offered through the foundation's capacity-building initiative, Support Cabarrus, and includes lunch for registered participants.
The workshop aims to help nonprofits refine their messaging, better connect with their audiences and improve engagement strategies in an increasingly crowded digital landscape. "In today's environment, many organizations feel pressure to constantly post or follow trends, but still don't see meaningful results," said Jenn Delaney, director of capacity building services for the foundation. "Workshops like this are about more than just learning new tools — they're about building confidence and capacity within our nonprofit community."
Delaney said clear messaging and strong storytelling can help organizations grow support and advance their missions.
The session will be led by Justin Moore, principal and creative director of Sublmnl, a brand development studio. Moore brings more than two decades of experience helping organizations develop messaging designed to resonate with audiences. "If you make a series of posts just to 'put something out there,' people can tell," Moore said.
"But when you share honest, familiar messaging your audience relates to, that's when they'll lean in and pay attention."
Participants will receive guidance on clarifying their organization's message, identifying target audiences and using storytelling to build trust. The workshop will also include a hands-on exercise in which attendees begin developing their own brand framework using templates and real-world examples.
The event is part of Support Cabarrus' broader effort to provide professional development opportunities aimed at strengthening the longterm sustainability of local nonprofits.
The workshop is free, but space is limited.Organizers encourage early registration at supportcabarrus.org.
