The new Dash In convenience store on Copperfield Boulevard is set to open Monday, June 8, at 7 a.m. The company held a sneak preview Thursday and we got a chance to see the new digs and sample the food and beverages.
Dash In enters a competitive convenience store market and aims to separate itself from the market with fresh-made food, craft soft drinks and teas.
But the biggest thing that sets the company apart is its people and customer service, according to Julian B. "Blackie" Wills III, the president and chairman of the board of the Wills Group, the parent company of Dash In.
The 5,600-foot building includes all the features of a traditional convenience store, plus a full kitchen and a dining area. Food can be ordered through the company app or in the store.
Wills talked with guests Thursday and detailed some of the reasons for coming to Concord and North Carolina. Friendly people, a good tax structure and, most importantly, the economic growth.
The company is based in Maryland and has more than 60 stores there and in Virginia and Delaware. The population is declining in Maryland, he pointed out.
"We'll always have a strong presence in Maryland, but the growth is here," Wills said.
Wills has family connections in several parts of North Carolina and often vacations at the Outer Banks.

A few days ago we told you about the dinosaurs in the parking lot at Concord Mills Mall. Business is booming for the attraction.
In the three weeks since LuminoCity Dino Safari Festival roared into Concord, the largest immersive dinosaur walk-thru lights festival in the U.S. sold over 10,000 tickets, which remain available for the final days of the festival, which runs through June 14.
LuminoCity reports that the Concord Mills ticket purchases add to over 265,000 Dino Safari Light Festival tickets sold since the concept's 2022 launch.
At Concord Mills, the LuminoCity Dino Safari covers 100,000+ square-feet with a pop-up experience that transforms the parking lot into a glowing prehistoric world where life-sized dinosaurs roar, illuminated tunnels transport guests through time, and interactive attractions keep families exploring for hours.
"At LuminoCity, we aim to create more than a family-friendly event — we build immersive worlds where people can unplug, explore and experience wonder together," said LuminoCity CEO and Founder Xiaoyi Chen. "Inspired by the artistry and tradition of Chinese lantern festivals in my hometown, I founded LuminoCity to share that beauty and cultural storytelling. Bringing LuminoCity Dino Safari to metro Charlotte is especially meaningful. We're proud to open at Concord Mills with over two acres of interactive experiences that celebrate creativity, spark curiosity, and create joyful moments our family guests can share."
