EASTERN CABARRUS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The postcard on the left is of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Mount Pleasant from about 1909. The photo on the right is of the church today.
The land for the church was sold to the congregation by H. T. J. Ludwig, whose school was about 100 yards away. He was a teacher at NC College.
The sanctuary was completed in 1874 by local brickmason H.C. McAllister. He was also part of a masonry group that built North Carolina College and later served as president of the college board of trustees.
His home was located on North Main Street, about four blocks away. The church was located directly across South Main Street from Mont Amoena Female Seminary.
