Olivia (Heather Hemmens) returns to Texas to help her aunt with her country music bar that's fallen on hard times and reconnects with Luke (Brendan Penny), her childhood sweetheart turned cowboy, and her passion for a little old Texas two-step dancing.
Regarded today as a Danish masterpiece of culinary cinema, this 1987 Foreign Language Oscar winner is a simple drama that follows two humble and extremely restrained sisters living in a seaside village who have devoted their lives to their religion and helping the poor, bypassing their own personal joys and plenty of suitors. Many years later, an old suitor sends Babette, a Parisian who's lost her family and her way of life, to the sisters, where she seeks a humble job as their housekeeper. After working for the sisters for years, Babette wins the French lottery and asks the sisters if she could prepare a lavish dinner for them and the town's congregation. Her gesture is not apparent until the end of the film.
