Vicki Love honored with service award
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Vicki love is this year's winner of the Bradley Cohen
exceptional service award.
CITY OF CONCORD
CONCORD — Vicki Love, a longtime member of the city's Communications Department, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Bradley Cohen Exceptional Service Award, city officials announced during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
The award recognizes a communications team member who demonstrates outstanding service and dedication to the community. Officials said Love exemplifies those qualities through her consistent professionalism, positive attitude and commitment to supporting both colleagues and residents.
"Vicki consistently strives to make a difference in our community," the city said in a statement. "She is always positive, professional, and goes out of her way to make sure those around her feel cared for and heard."
Love's work in the 911 Communications Center often places her at the front line of emergency response, assisting residents during some of their most difficult moments. Her impact, officials noted, extends beyond daily duties.
During winter storms earlier this year, Love stayed overnight at the communications center, sleeping on a cot to ensure uninterrupted service for residents and first responders.
The award is named in honor of Bradley Cohen, a Concord 911 telecommunicator who died in 2024. Cohen was known for his kindness, generosity and dedication to helping others.
Love and Cohen worked together for 19 years and shared a close professional and personal bond, according to the city. Officials said Love's compassion and commitment reflect the same values Cohen brought to his work and the community.
The Bradley Cohen Exceptional Service Award is presented annually to recognize those who carry forward his legacy of service.
