TOWN OF HARRISBURG
HARRISBURG — Accessibility improvements at the historic Harris Depot Old Log Cabin are nearing completion, with town officials highlighting new features designed to make the site more welcoming to all visitors.
A newly installed ramp is among the most visible upgrades at the cabin, part of the town of Harrisburg's broader effort to bring the property into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The improvements aim to increase access while maintaining the structure's historic character.
Town officials said preserving the cabin's authenticity remained a priority throughout the project, even as modifications were made to accommodate visitors with mobility needs. Additional finishing touches, including land-scaping, are still underway. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned, and the cabin will officially open to the public following that event.
The Harris Depot Old Log Cabin is located at 6960 Harris Depot Road within Harris Depot Park. More information about the site and park amenities is available on the town of Harrisburg's website: www.harrisburgnc.gov.
