County releases Memorial Day schedule
CABARRUS COUNTY
Cabarrus County Government offices will close Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day and reopen Tuesday, May 26.
Library branches will operate on their normal schedules on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23. Branches will close on Monday and reopen on Tuesday.
County parks will remain open during regular hours throughout the holiday weekend. Active Living Centers and LunchPlus Clubs are closed on Monday.
The Construction and Demolition Landfill on Irish Potato Road will operate from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23. The facility will close on Monday and reopen Tuesday.
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility off N.C. 49 will also close Monday and reopen Tuesday.
Republic Services will operate on a normal schedule for residents in unincorporated areas.
CAMP T.N. SPENCER POOL OPENS FOR SEASON
The Camp T.N. Spencer pool in Concord, located at 3155 Foxford Drive, opens for the season on Saturday, May 23.
The pool operates weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents can reserve pool access for $5 per day, and they may walk in or preregister online by visiting www.cabarruscounty.us/register and selecting the "Parks Programs" tab and the "Pool" dropdown.
New this season, residents may purchase pool passes only one week in advance unless they are also making a facility reservation.
Residents reserving a facility should contact Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks (ALP) at 704-920-2747 to purchase pool passes with their reservation. ALP also updated its policy for unaccompanied minors. Anyone younger than 18 must have adult supervision.
The pool will remain open through Aug. 3.

CONCORD'S HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
The city of Concord government offices will be closed Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. Several services will operate on modified schedules due to the observed holiday.
GARBAGE, RECYCLING, BULKY, AND YARD WASTE COLLECTION
All garbage, recycling, bulky and yard waste collection will operate on a one-day delay. Residents are reminded to place their carts at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on the day of their collection.
Residents are encouraged to visit concordnc.gov/whatsmyday and download the free CARTology mobile app to have their collection schedule at their fingertips, and to receive notifications about schedule changes.
RIDER TRANSIT
Rider Transit will be closed, and buses will not operate on Monday, May 25. Regular service will resume Tuesday, May 26.
PARKS AND RECREATION
On Monday, May 25, the Academy and Hartsell Recreation Centers and the Logan Multi-Purpose Center will follow holiday hours and open from 12-6 p.m.
The David Phillips Activity Center and Lake Fisher will be closed.
The ClearWater Ceramics Center is open on Memorial Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for scheduled programming and independent study.
JOHN F. MCINNIS AQUATICS CENTER OPENS FOR THE SEASON
The McInnis pool opens for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 23, at noon. Public swim hours are Sunday-Thursday, 1-5 p.m. and 12-6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, the pool will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
Both single-day and season passes are available for purchase online. Daily pool passes can also be purchased in person. More information is available at concordnc.gov/McInnisPool.
KANNAPOLIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SCHEDULE
All city of Kannapolis offices will be closed for business on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26. There will be no disruption in garbage and recycling collection service; however, there will be no yard debris collection on Monday.
All Kannapolis parks will be open for regular operating hours from dawn until dusk. The train, carousel and splash pad at Village Park, 700 W. C St., will be open this weekend. Tickets are $1.50 for each attraction.

MEMORIAL DAY EVENT PLANNED
Join the city of Kannapolis on Monday, May 25, for a Memorial Day event at Veterans Park at 119 N. Main St., Kannapolis. A procession will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Main Street, followed by a program at noon in Veterans Park. There will be a keynote speaker, and the ceremony will also include special music performances.
The event is hosted by the Beaver-Pittman American Legion Post 115, the Poston-Perkins Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8989, the American Legion Auxiliary and the city of Kannapolis. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
