Concord Wildlife Alliance helps clean up Irish Buffalo Creek
FROM STAFF REPORTS

the trash removed from Irish Buffalo Creek.
CITY OF CONCORD
Volunteers with the Concord Wildlife Alliance recently removed about 50 pounds of garbage from Irish Buffalo Creek during a stream cleanup effort, according to the city of Concord.
Among the items collected were a tire and parts from three vacuum cleaners.
City officials praised the group's work in a recent social media post, noting the importance of volunteer organizations that participate in the city's Adopt a Stream program.
The program encourages community groups and residents to help keep local waterways free of litter and debris, which can negatively affect stormwater flow, contribute to flooding and threaten wildlife habitats.
"When trash and debris collect in our local creeks and streams, it can cause flooding and harm the wildlife who live in these local waterways," the city said in the post.
The Concord Wildlife Alliance is one of several local organizations that regularly participate in stream cleanup efforts throughout the city.
Residents interested in volunteering through the Adopt a Stream program can learn more at ConcordNC.gov/ streams.
