Samantha Davis, a senior at Union Pines High School, died over the weekend during a cross country meet in Charlotte. She was about to enter the last kilometer of the race during the Hare and Hounds Invitational at McAlpine Greenway Park when she collapsed after going into cardio arrest.
News reports said Davis passed away early Sunday morning after being transported to the hospital.
