When it debuted on Money Magazine’s 2015 Top Places to Live, Harrisburg was touted for its livability and “location in the green countryside of the Carolina Piedmont.” That depiction is threatened, however, by the town advisory board’s recent vote to recommend higher density zoning for 82 acres between two existing developments off Stallings Road. This would establish a precedent for other current and future rezoning proposals here and has already prompted consideration of roundabouts to ease projected traffic congestion.
