“Conserving land along the Rocky River will help contribute to the protection of water quality in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin, which serves as a drinking water source for over 1 million people,” said Emily Callicutt, TRLT’s director of Conservation.
From Iredell County to Anson County, the Rocky River winds for more than 95 miles through central North Carolina. Completely undammed, the river provides essential wildlife habitat for local species, including more than 50 bird species. Now, 84 acres along the river, containing almost a mile of shoreline, are permanently conserved in Cabarrus County.
Since 1995, Three Rivers Land Trust has worked to offer reasonable and attractive options to landowners who want to permanently conserve their lands.
