Epcon Communities submitted a request to the town of Harrisburg to rezone 32.85 acres at the southwest corner of the intersection of Robinson Church Road and Tom Query Road to develop 77 age-restricted, single-family, detached residential dwellings. The proposed density for the site will be capped at 2.34 dwelling units per acre.
The town of Harrisburg has about 88% of its housing stock as single-family detached homes, with less than 2% of the town's entire housing stock vacant. Dr. Stephen Sills, director of the Center for Housing and Community Studies at UNC Greensboro, explained at a December meeting that this might be a problem for the future of the town's housing market.Â
