Helen Joan Campbell Hathcock CONCORD Mrs. Helen Joan Campbell Hathcock, 77, of Concord, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at CMC NorthEast. The family will receive friends Monday, March 3, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., at Mt. Olivet UMC, with the funeral following at 2 p.m., with the Revs. Wes Judy and Carl Settle officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park cemetery. Mrs. Hathcock was born June 17, 1936, in Cabarrus County, to the late Drew and Winnie Dancy Campbell. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Glenn" Hathcock. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Nance and husband, Mike, of Concord; sons, Larry Hathcock and wife, Susan, of Concord and Jerry Hathcock and wife, Stephanie, of Concord; two sisters, Mary Morgan and husband, Jerry, of Salisbury and Kay Roseman and husband, Terry, of China Grove; four grandchildren, Andrew Nance, Emily Nance, Sarah Hathcock and Anna Hathcock; and her nieces and nephews. Joan was a member of Mt. Olivet UMC, a graduate of A.L. Brown High School and was a member of the singing saints. She was a real people person who never met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren and children dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Hathcock worked in educational settings, serving as a teacher assistant and secretary with Cabarrus County Schools and as an assistant at Stonewall Jackson Training School. She retired from Cabarrus County Veteran Administration as a Veterans Service Officer. Special thanks to Diane, Angie, Nicole and Jordan for their attentive care in the last months of her life.
