CONCORD Mr William Earl "Creep" Blackwelder of Irish Potato Road, Concord, passed away at the Tucker Hospice House Nov. 6, 2015. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Dr. Mark Ericson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr Blackwelder was born May 31, 1935 in Cabarrus County to the late Sidney David Blackwelder and Annie Safrit Blackwelder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Blackwelder; and three brothers, John Henry, Paul Franklin and Jimmy Mack Blackwelder. "Creep" worked for Laxton Construction, L.P. Cox Construction and retired as a self-employed landscaper. He served his Country in the U.S. Army. "Creep" was a long time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and a charter member of Cold Water Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a hard worker and could do just about or make anything. "Creep" was an avid welder and gardener and never met a stranger and would offer you the shirt off his back. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years, Pat Wilhoit Blackwelder; son, Wesley Earl Blackwelder and wife Heidi of Huntersville; and a daughter, Holli L Blackwelder of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Harrison and Kate Blackwelder; his brothers, Harold Blackwelder, David Blackwelder and wife Monty, Ned Blackwelder and wife Daphne; a sister-in-law, Dean Blackwelder; and lots of nieces and nephews and a world of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to St. Johns Lutheran Church 100 St. Johns Church Rd, Concord, NC 28025.
