Qutina Carter KANNAPOLIS All glory be to God, on December 3, Wednesday afternoon, our heavenly Father summoned home one of the most dynamic spirits that has ever walked the face of this earth. With her bright smile and warm demeanor she drew near to the hearts and souls of so many. Qutina Mercer Carter was born in Concord to Ms. Brenda Mercer and Mr. Marveo Stofford. She grew up alongside her younger brother, Reginald Mercer, in the household of their grandparents. As a child, she attended Odell Elementary, Northwest Cabarrus Middle School and later went on to graduate from Northwest Cabarrus High School in June 2001. In her adult life, she attended the University of Greensboro where she received her bachelors degree in Social Work, but she didn't stop there. Mrs. Carter went on to get a master's degree in Sociology at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. For the last eight years she has carried out her calling as a psychotherapist. On a more personal note, Mrs. Carter lived and preached a life of godliness and at the young age of 19, she met the man God would have her walk through life with as partners, Mr. James Calvin Carter II. Immediately, they felt a connection and on July 4, 2009 they vowed to be husband and wife. From their bond a little angel was born, James Calvin Carter III. Tina proved right away that she was born to be a loving mother and wife and she performed this gift with grace and poise. Over Tina's lifetime she has accomplished so much, from serving as a wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, and on multiple committees as a devoted member at Columbus Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, including Steward Board, Church Treasure, and Yams coordinator. Outside of being a wonderful wife and mother, one of her most joyful and rewarding accomplishments was becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta. She and her line sisters have been known to spend hours laughing and reminiscing about their college days. There are no words to express how much this angel of God will be missed. She brought joy and happiness to each soul she touched. She will forever be remembered for her bubbly personality. Mrs. Carter leaves to love and cherish her memories, husband, James Carter II; son, James Carter III (Kannapolis); mother, Brenda Jackson (Davidson); father, Marveo Stofford (Salisbury); (Brother); grandmother, Berta Parker; aunts, Reverend Shirley Mercer (Davidson) and Mary Ann Mercer (Kannapolis); uncles, John W. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at Columbus Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Davidson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. W.H.
