Clyde Samuel Ross Sr. CONCORD Clyde Samuel Ross Sr., 70, of Concord, passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at CMC-NorthEast following a period of declining health. Mr. Ross was born in Rowan County Oct. 1, 1943, a son of the late Kimzy and Julia Sanderland Ross. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers and sisters. Mr. Ross was formerly employed by Cannon Mills as a pipe fitter. He enjoyed playing the guitar and gospel music. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ross will be held today (Sunday, Aug. 10), at 2:30 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joey Spry officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the services today at Whitley's, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Thomas Ross, of the home; sons, Clyde Samuel Ross Jr. (Audrey), Eric Rodgers (Whitney), Edward Rodgers and Steven Ross (Teresa), all of Concord and Gregory Ross, of Spruce Pines; a daughter, Angela Singleton (Ralph), of Concord; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Ross, of Kannapolis; and sisters, Barbara Grimes, of Kannapolis, Sylvia Casaday, of Gray, Ga. and Tilda Gainey, of Salisbury.
