MT. PLEASANT On Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, Mrs. Pauline Gladden Tucker was peacefully reunited with her husband of 65 years, Huston Tucker. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Bethel Baptist Church in Locust. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Beaver officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Pauline was born in Mecklenburg County, June 25, 1926, to the late Robert and Myrtle Gladden. She is survived by her son Robert "Bobby" Tucker; granddaughters, Dana Harris and Shannon Howell of Charlotte, and her daughters, Martha Tucker of Mt. Pleasant, Anna Barbee and husband, Larry, of Birmingham, Ala.; granddaughter, Melissa Furr of Locust, and grandson, Brandon Barbee, of Birmingham, Ala., Kathy Helms and husband David of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Maria Helms of Concord and grandson, Dave Helms of Columbia, S.C. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Lou Hopkins Yow of Midland, but survived by grandsons, Dee Hopkins of Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Jordan Yow of Concord. Pauline is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and four great-great-grandchildren. She spent her life caring for those she loved as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. The family would like to specially thank her caregivers at White Oak Manor in the West wing, Yolonda, Elaine, Candace, and Love (to name a few), who not only provided for her physical needs, but did so with such love and we will be forever grateful.
