Illinois vs. Iowa odds, preview & picks for Feb. 24
The Hawkeyes sit eighth in the Big Ten at 16-11 but are currently on a two-game winning streak. Iowa’s offense has kept it in games, averaging 83.4 PPG (second in the Big Ten), but its defense has let it down, ranking second-last in the conference (78.1 PPG), with only the lowly Michigan Wolverines worse.
Payton Sandfort and Tony Perkins have led the way in scoring for the Hawkeyes (both 15 PPG) this season and will have to ball out on Saturday once again for Iowa to have a chance. The Hawkeyes are 8-8 in Big Ten action and are 5-5 overall in their last 10 games. On the season, Iowa is 11-16 against the spread.
Illinois will be playing on its home court where it sports a 13-2 record this season. The Fighting Illini are 19-7 overall and 10-5 in Big Ten play. The Illini are coming off a 90-89 loss against Penn State in a game where Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 35 points. Shannon Jr. has averaged 20.2 PPG over his last 10.
Illinois leads the Big Ten in rebounding (42.4 per game), led by Quincy Guerrier who has averaged seven boards per contest. The Fighting Illini are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are 14-10-2 ATS this season.
This will be the first matchup between the two conference foes this season. While, Illinois is tough at home, we like this one to be a high-scoring affair, with Iowa doing enough on offense to cover the spread.
