5 things to know about Northern Iowa offensive tackle Spencer Brown
Here are five things to know about Northern Iowa offensive tackle Spencer Brown, selected by the Bills in the third round, 93rd overall, on Friday:
1. Small-town guy hits the big time. The 6-foot-8, 311-pound Brown is from Lenox, Iowa, which he said was a town of about 1,300. He said it's mostly a farming, blue-collar community. He grew up on a farm.
1. Burly build, swift pursuit: The 6-foot-3, 274-pound redshirt senior is known for his burly build, powerful hands and counter spins, as well as his hard hitting and relentless pursuit of the quarterback. He's been strong against the run, but could stand to improve in that regard, according to analysts. Knocks against him include a lack of elite edge speed, which could make him more effective as an interior rusher on clear passing downs. But his speed creates mismatches against guards and he has demonstrated surprising burst to close in on quarterbacks. He had at least one quarterback pressure in all 34 college starts, per Pro Football Focus.

Rousseau’s mother is an emergency room nurse who saw firsthand the impact the virus had on those who became sick. As a true freshman in 2018, Rousseau played in just two games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. When Rousseau did play in 2019, though, he produced. His 15.5 sacks finished second in the country behind eventual No. 2 overall draft pick Chase Young of Ohio State. Rousseau was named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2019.
