Multicultural Community Choir reunites for afternoon of music, fellowship to pay tribute to the Rev. Ruth Brooks
The Rev. Ruth Books is the founder of the Multicultural Community Choir and has been instrumental in the choir's efforts over the years.
The Multicultural Community Choir was founded in 1987.
Former choir members are invited to come back for the reunion concert on Sunday, Aug. 2, at Barber-Scotia College.
The choir has been a community staple since its founding.

CONCORD — The Multicultural Community Choir will reunite for a special afternoon of music, fellowship and tribute on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 4 p.m. in the Kittie M. Sanson Chapel at Barber-Scotia College, 145 Cabarrus Ave. W., Concord.
The event, "MCSU Reunion 2026," carries the theme "For Every Mountain..." and will celebrate the legacy of the choir's founder and visionary, the Rev. Ruth Brooks, whose leadership has touched countless lives throughout the region for more than two decades.
Organizers say the reunion is an opportunity to honor Brooks for her dedication to serving churches, schools, families and communities across North Carolina.
"We want to crown her with double honor," organizers said in announcing the event. "All we want to do is show her how much we appreciate her unconditional love that she has poured out to so many."
Former members of the Multicultural Community Choir who participated from from 1987 to the present are encouraged to attend and take part in the reunion performance.Organizers are asking alumni interested in singing to contact Maestro Eddie Brown Jr. at 704-713-2155.
The reunion concert will feature musical leadership from Brown of Salisbury, Michael Walker of Kannapolis, and Minister of Music Sonny Turner of Charlotte. Jeremy Kirkpatrick of Concord will serve as master of ceremonies.
Also appearing as a special guest will be We Worship Charlotte, whose members will join the celebration with a guest performance.
The reunion promises an afternoon of worship, music and reflection as former choir members and supporters gather to celebrate the enduring impact of Brooks and the ministry she began.
