KHA presents Cannon Mills: Yesterday's Memories in Photography

This is a photo of the iconic Cannon Mills sign. It comes from
the Cannon Mills, Kannapolis, NC 1887-2003 Facebook page.
The Kannapolis History Associates will host an evening with local photographer Chad Mitchell on Monday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Social Room at A.L. Brown High School, 415 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Kannapolis.
Mitchell will present "Cannon Mills: Yesterday's Memories in Photography," sharing his experiences documenting the historic Cannon Mills and showcasing many of the photographs he captured between 2005 and 2007.
His presentation will highlight the craftsmanship, architecture and history of the former mill complex, including images taken from locations throughout the facility and views of the Kannapolis skyline.
A local photographer, graphic designer and woodworker, Mitchell began photographing Cannon Mills in 2005 while working for the Independent Tribune. His documentary project ultimately produced more than 25,000 images of the mill before its demolition.
The program is open to anyone interested in local history, whether longtime residents or newcomers to Kannapolis.
Parking is available in the east lot of Trinity Methodist Church, with access through the sidewalk east of the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center auditorium.
