An Ohio company that makes doors, windows and siding has committed to bringing 400 jobs and investing $120 million in Davie County.
The announcement from ProVia came on Aug. 25, and the company will use a site in Mocksville.
ProVia, based in Sugarcreek, Ohio, manufactures doors, windows, siding, stone and roofing products for dealers and distributors primarily in the residential construction industry.
The 580,000-square-foot Mocksville plant in TriWest Business Center off Farmington Road will serve as a new window production line as ProVia expands into the Southeast.
Founded in 1977, the family-owned company has grown to nine locations and more than 3,000 employees. The Mocksville plant will be its second outside Ohio.

"This ranks among the most significant economic development projects Davie County has landed in recent years," said Terry Bralley, president of Davie Economic Development Commission.
"When you look at the investment, the jobs and the long-term addition to our tax base, it's a tremendous win for a county our size."
ProVia has agreed to purchase a pre-graded 79-acre tract.
The N.C. Commerce Department said in its ProVia project summary that the capital investment involves $52.35 million in real property construction and improvements, $40 million in tangible personal property and a $27.65 million property purchase.
Commerce said ProVia considered building the plant near its current operation in Ohio and was offered "a significantly higher incentive package" from Ohio.
"This expansion will enable us to continue delivering quality products to our growing marketplace with a high level of service and excellent lead times," Brian Miller, Provia's president and chief executive, said in a news release.
"We are humbled to grow at this scale and grateful for the trust our customers place in us."
Average salary: $66K
The average annual salary will be $66,326, which exceeds the Davie County average of $52,772.
The manufacturer is eligible for up to $3.28 million in performance-based economic incentives over 12 years from the state's Job Development Grant program.
Commerce said the company has requested that 2028 be the first performance year for the incentives.
The Davie Board of Commissioners approved up to $1.68 million in performance-based incentives.
ProVia is eligible for $720,000 in incentives from the N.C. Community College System.
ProVia indicated to Commerce that a determining factor in choosing the Mocksville site was accessibility to Davidson-Davie Community College's workforce development programs, along with low corporate tax rate and infrastructure costs.
Bralley said the successful recruitment of ProVia "sends a message that Davie County can compete for — and win — major investments."
"For a small county like Davie, having a speculative building or a pre-graded industrial site ready to go gives us a tremendous advantage.
"Companies want to move quickly, and when we can have a pad-ready site or building in front of them, it allows us to compete with communities much larger than we are."
Vote of confidence
State Sen. Steve Jarvis, R-Davidson/Davie, said that "joining our community is a vote of confidence in our ability to create the business environment with a world-class workforce to support its next phase of growth."
A news release from the Davie economic commission credited resident Karl Zimmerman with sparking ProVia's interest in the Mocksville site during an April conversation with Freddie Miller, a member of ProVia's site scouting team.
ProVia had been considering a site in the Kannapolis area when Zimmerman suggested a potential site in Davie.
Zimmerman also told Bralley about the conversation, who reached out to ProVia to encourage them to review the TriWest Business Center site.
"Karl is a great example of why I've always said our residents can be some of our best economic development ambassadors," Bralley said.
"You never know when a conversation with someone you meet might open the door to an opportunity for Davie County. Karl knew what our community had to offer, recognized an opportunity, and made the connection."
