I read with interest Larry Cothren’s column, “Liberals distort truth, fiction,” in Sunday’s Independent Tribune. While I agreed with several of his points, I take issue with his characterization of the media as “largely dishonest.” Describing the media as liberal or biased may be true of some papers and networks, but to label the media as dishonest is flat wrong and plays into the hands of President Trump and his mantra of “fake news.” My experience has been that news personnel are hard-working and strive to get the facts out to the public in as even-handed a manner as possible.
Cothren ‘flat wrong’ and cherry picks his facts
