August 6, 1947 - May 27, 2020 Judy Fayenelle Patterson Woodberry, 72, of N. Windsor Dr., Kannapolis, departed this life Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at her residence. She was born Aug. 6, 1947, in Cabarrus County, to the late Clinton Patterson and the late Mamie Coleman Patterson. Judy was educated in the Cabarrus County school system and was a graduate of Livingstone College in Salisbury. She went on to receive her Master's from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md. She was formerly employed with Prince George County Public Schools. Judy was a life-time member of Bethel AME Zion Church, where she served on the Missionary Board. She also was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and the Alumni Association of Livingstone College. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, at 12 p.m., at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, 923 Indiana St., in Kannapolis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Woodberry; sister, Carolyn Abraham; and brother, James Clinton Patterson. Those she leaves to cherish her loving memory include daughter, Denita L. April 26, 1938 - May 23, 2020 Eudenia Faye Robbins Hilton, 82, of Concord, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020, at her home in Concord. Eudenia was born April 26, 1938, in Clinchmore, Tenn., the daughter of the late Harvey and Tula Mae Robbins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Everette E. Hilton; brother, Doyel David Robbins; and sister, Marcella Robbins Ellis. She retired in 1993, from AT&T after 36 years of service. Survivors include brothers, Carl Edward Robbins and Avery Lee Robbins. A memorial service will be held at a later date at United Love Baptist Church, 11487 Flowes Store Rd., in Midland, with the Rev. Jerry Lynn Waller, 82, of Kannapolis, joined our Lord and Savior Friday, May 29, 2020. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., today (Sunday, May 31), at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sam Crisp will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Mr. Waller was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Lindsey M. Waller and Ethel Upright Waller. He attended AL Brown High School, Duke University for his Hospital Administration Degree, and Davidson College for Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years as a Chemical Warfare Specialist. He served as Hospital Administrator at Huntersville Hospital until he retired. After retirement, he started a durable medical equipment company called Carolina Home Oxygen in 1980. While there, he helped to originate the NC state medical equipment association called NCAMES. His philanthropy projects focused on fundraisers for The Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis and other charities related to feeding children in need. His hobbies included being an avid golfer and a 2-time state MVP in Church softball. Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita Louise Cashion Waller; four children, Danny L. Waller and wife, Lauren, Craig B. Waller and wife, Wendy, Anita Waller Howard and husband, Doug and Steven P. Waller and wife, Stephanie; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Hampton and Ila Stogner. Margaret was also preceded in death by her brothers, Wade Stogner and Gary Stogner. Margaret leaves behind her husband, Roger Parker; daughter, Angela, husband, Ryan Buchanan; son, Roger Daren, wife, Stephanie Parker; sister, Rita Stogner Walter; and six grandchildren, Trey, Nathen, Lauren, Austin, Landon and Bryce. September 23, 1951 - May 24, 2020 Mr. James Garnett Winters, 69, of Concord, originally from Glen Rock, N.J., passed away unexpectedly, at his home, Sunday, May 24, 2020. "Jim" was born Sept. 23, 1951, in Passaic County, N.J., and was the son of the late James Henry Winters and Ruth Pauline Milstreich Winters. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Allison Winters. A long-time resident of Glen Rock, N.J., Jim spent his career in electronic security management, working primarily in New York City. He served in the Ambulance Corp., in Glen Rock, and worked his way up to becoming Auxiliary Police Chief. Jim had a passion for electronics, especially radios and computers. After relocating to Concord, he became a member of the Rowan Amateur Radio Society, where his love for radios was very apparent. He made many friends throughout his career and through his hobby in Cabarrus County. Jim was a loving father and father-in-law, a man of selflessness and honor. He has touched so many lives and his memory will be honored by all who knew and loved him. October 27, 1933 - May 27, 2020 Beverly Ann McElrath Reynolds, 86, of Concord, passed onward to her eternal reward Wednesday, May 27, 2020. She passed surrounded by her husband and children at the Laurels of Salisbury, where she resided the past seven months. Beverly was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Kingston, N.Y., to the late William and Dorothy and William McElrath. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold McElrath and Freddy Bectold, Beverly, at the age of 10, along with her sister and best friend in life, Elaine, pursued instructions to enter the Catholic Church. Together they were baptized, confirmed and received first communion at St. Joseph's in Kingston. As teenagers they lived with their late Aunt Esther and Uncle Peter Keizer. Beverly remained a life-long faithful Catholic with special devotion to the Blessed Mother and the holy rosary, praying the rosary daily for her family and many others in need. Beverly went to Kingston High School and worked as a secretary for a lumber company in Lake Katrine, N.Y., as a young woman. On May 28, 1955, she married Leon J. Reynolds, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Kingston. They purchased a home, and started a family on Parish Lane in Lake Katrine, where they made countless precious memories with family, friends, and neighbors. In 1979, they moved to Lindler Drive in Concord, when Leon was transferred with IBM. Beverly worked as an incredibly talented homemaker and devoted wife and mother throughout her married life. She always gave selflessly and generously to others. Beverly enjoyed keeping a nice home, sewing draperies and costumes, preparing countless meals, playing the organ, dancing, singing and laughing. She appreciated beauty, and lived with gratitude. Beverly enjoyed hosting beautiful holiday celebrations along with her beloved husband Leon. She was a loving, saintly, one of a kind woman, and no words can express how deeply she will be missed by her family and those who knew her. October 21, 1938 - May 28, 2020 William Kenneth "Ken" Fortner, 81, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County. Ken was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Horace and Reba Smith Fortner. Ken was retired from 36 1/2 years in the trucking industry; with 15 years at Akers Motor Line, 19 years with Consolidated Freightways of Charlotte and 2 1/2 years at Pilot Freight out of Kernersville. He attended Winecoff High School before entering the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Hawaii and received an honorable discharge following four years of service. Ken was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis where he taught Sunday school for 17 years. He drove the church bus, sang in the choir and served on the church board. Ken had a love for classic cars and car shows. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., today (Sunday, May 31), at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel conducted by the Rev. Scott Wheeler. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. December 14, 1939 - May 29, 2020 Mr. Billy Ray Scott, 80, of Concord, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at Tucker Hospice House. A private memorial service will be held Monday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church. A private burial will be held at a later date. Bill was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, to the late James "Jim" and Lula Easley Scott. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Anne Parnell Scott. Bill was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1958, where he played basketball and football. He worked at Snyder Packaging for 44 years. During his time at Snyder's he was a versatile employee doing everything from running the printing presses to maintaining various equipment. He loved the outdoors. He hunted and fished whenever possible. He took great pride in his home and lawn. He was a devoted husband, caretaker, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many. April 3, 1927 - May 29, 2020 Alice Elizabeth "Libby" Hunsuck, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 29, 2020. She was born April 3, 1927, in Hickory, daughter of the late Victor G. Shuford and Edythe H. Shuford. She attended Hickory City Schools and Lenior Rhyne College. In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Hunsuck; beloved son, Mike; and two brothers, Dr. William H. Shuford and Robert R. Shuford. Libby is survived by her daughter, Pat Beam and husband, Greg, from Cherryville; daughter-in-law, Linda Hunsuck of Kannapolis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Libby worked for 38 years in the banking business in Kannapolis. She retired as a loan officer. Libby was a faithful member of Kimball Lutheran Church for 71 years. She loved trips to the mountains, beach, Christian Tour trips, concerts and plays. Libby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. A kind and gentle spirit, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A private memorial service will be held Monday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church. A private burial will be held at a later date. Bill was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, to the late James "Jim" and Lula Easley Scott. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Anne Parnell Scott. Bill was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1958, where he played basketball and football. He worked at Snyder Packaging for 44 years. During his time at Snyder's he was a versatile employee doing everything from running the printing presses to maintaining various equipment. He loved the outdoors. He hunted and fished whenever possible. He took great pride in his home and lawn. He was a devoted husband, caretaker, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Linda Gail Stanley Scott; daughters, Libby Blackwelder and husband, Brian, Melissa Boehm and husband, Ben; son, Mark Sloop; sister, Frances Hatley; and grandchildren, Alex Sloop, Leigh Poteat, and Lewis Williams, Mary Blackwelder. April 3, 1927 - May 29, 2020 Alice Elizabeth "Libby" Hunsuck, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 29, 2020. She was born April 3, 1927, in Hickory, daughter of the late Victor G. Shuford and Edythe H. Shuford. She attended Hickory City Schools and Lenior Rhyne College. In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Hunsuck; beloved son, Mike; and two brothers, Dr. William H. Shuford and Robert R. Shuford. Libby is survived by her daughter, Pat Beam and husband, Greg, from Cherryville; daughter-in-law, Linda Hunsuck of Kannapolis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Libby worked for 38 years in the banking business in Kannapolis. She retired as a loan officer. Libby was a faithful member of Kimball Lutheran Church for 71 years. She loved trips to the mountains, beach, Christian Tour trips, concerts and plays. Libby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. A kind and gentle spirit, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Always the optimist, she made the best of any situation, Libby was always joyful, living her faith daily. Private services will be held for Mrs. Hunsuck.
