Two generations ago, Concord’s Roman Catholic Church was a mission congregation without a resident priest. Older Concord residents still remember when their Roman Catholic neighbors moved from their chapel in the countryside to a small sanctuary at the north end of Union Street.
St. James the Greater, the patron saint of the congregation, was one of the first twelve disciples of Jesus. This is a statue of the saint, which stands in a courtyard in front of the church. Mark Plemmons/mplemmons@independenttribune.com
