In terms of getaways, the trip 11 of us made to Washington D.C. in 1999 provided the type of experiences that endure for decades in family memories. We did a walking tour of the city, visited the monuments, visited Ford Theatre, then drove into Baltimore the next day. Over the years we’ve talked about how enjoyable those few days were, and we vowed many times to make the trip again someday.
