The National Museum of the U.S. Army which is proceeding apace to a 2019 opening at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. To raise awareness and to involve the public, the Museum is offering commemorative bricks to honor the service of a friend or loved one.Olson ordered bricks for each of his six Citadel classmates who were either KIA or MIA in Vietnam and its environs. The Class of 1969 was the last Citadel class to lose members in Vietnam. The brick pictured here is for Joe Eubanks.

On this Memorial Day, please join me in reflecting on Captain Joe Eubanks of Concord who made the supreme sacrifice for our country during the Vietnam War.
The Kannapolis Memorial Day Ceremony is set for Monday, May 28, at Veterans Park downtown. The ceremony is preceded by a parade of veterans which begins at the intersection of Laureate Way and Main Street and concludes at Veterans Park on Main Street. Any veteran wishing to march or ride should be at the parking garage at 11:15 a.m. to form up to march or ride on the float. The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. Miss North Carolina Victoria Huggins will ride in the parade and is the keynote speaker. Several high school JROTC's will also be marching including A.L. Brown High School’s Navy JROTCand Northwest Cabarrus and Central Cabarrus High Schools’ AirForce JROTC's. Miss Cabarrus County Kylee Russell is also participating in the parade, along with Congressman Richard Hudson. Three Ride of Pride Trucks from Freightliner Corporation escorted by the Patriot Guard will conclude the parade. The ceremony in the park will start at noon.
