Families with elementary school-aged children are invited to spend a morning riding bicycles and learning about bike safety during the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office's upcoming Bike with a Deputy event.
The free event will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Harrisburg Park Shelter No. 2, located at 191 Sims Parkway in Harrisburg.
Designed to promote bicycle safety while strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the community, the event will begin with a brief presentation on bicycle safety led by sheriff's deputies. Participants will also receive bicycle safety handouts and giveaways before the ride.
The Right Gear Bicycle Shop will be on-site to inspect bicycles and helmets, and to answer families' questions about bike safety and maintenance.
The event is open to elementary school-aged children and their parents. All riders must wear a helmet and sign a release form on the day of the event to participate.
