Tropical Storm Helene plowed through Burke County on Thursday night and Friday morning knocking down trees, snapping power poles and blocking roadways. By Friday afternoon, riding water along the Catawba River was threatening to flood parts of Morganton and Burke County.
Storms swept through southern Wisconsin on Saturday. Argyle Lutheran Church was destroyed, and the congregation is meeting there Sunday to pray and talk.
