Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Chris Measimer officially retired at the end of July after more than three decades of service. Measimer, left, is shown here being presented his service weapon by Sheriff Van Shaw. “We are honored to recognize Captain Chris Measimer as he retires after nearly three decades of dedicated service to law enforcement and our community,” the sheriff’s office posted on social media. Measimer began his career in 1996 as a detention officer with the Mecklenburg County Police Department. After completing Basic Law Enforcement Training in 1999, he served as a patrol officer before joining the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office in 2001. Over the years, he served as a field training officer, patrol sergeant, training division sergeant and lieutenant before becoming the first captain of the Harrisburg Division in 2022. Throughout his career, Measimer has been a steadfast leader — supervising law enforcement for the town of Harrisburg, organizing security for major town events, overseeing the Critical Incident Peer Support and Disaster Response Teams, and serving as a trusted liaison between the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office and the Harrisburg community. “His dedication, leadership and impact on those he has served and mentored will be felt for years to come. Please join us in thanking Captain Measimer for his remarkable service and wishing him all the best in retirement,” the sheriff’s office said.
