TOPS #437  (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Tuesday at 10 a.m. (weigh-in begins at 9:30 a.m.) at Lakeview Baptist Church, 2532 Lane St. Kannapolis. Visitors are welcome.

Historic Cabarrus Association's 2022 Annual Meeting is a free public event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Davis Theater in Concord's historic 1876 Courthouse at 65 Union Street South. Dr. Gary Freeze will speak on the origins of the textile industry in Cabarrus County. Refreshments included. Parking is available at the parking deck on Corbin Ave. SE. Concord Wildlife Alliance, the local chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, is hosting a “Kids in Nature Day” from 9 a.m. until noon at Woodlands Discovery, 8755 Poplar Tent Road. The event is free and open to all area families.

The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary will hold its first General Meeting of the business calendar year at The Salvation Army of Cabarrus County headquarters at 216 Patterson Ave SE, Concord, NC 28025. Socializing and refreshments begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the meeting at 10. Existing members, prospective members, or if you're simply interested in what the Women's Auxiliary is all about, you are welcome! There will be pre-owned books available for sale, with proceeds to be used to buy new books for the Christmas Angel Tree project. The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary functions as a fund raising and volunteer service group in support of The Salvation Army's programs and activities in the community. Please plan to wear a mask.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences will host a fall festival for the community as the culminating event in a yearlong celebration of its 80th anniversary. The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the college, 401 Medical Park Drive in Concord, NC, on the campus of Atrium Health Cabarrus

Candidates for the Cabarrus County Board of Education will participate in a forum sponsored by the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Society at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Town Hall. The forum will be moderated by The Honorable William Hamby, retired district court judge.
