Public hearing on zoning ordinance text amendments postponed
The public hearing on zoning ordinance text amendments has been postponed to allow additional public inspection time.
DANBURY, N.C. — The Stokes County Planning & Inspections Department announces that the Stokes County Planning Board special meeting and public hearing on proposed zoning ordinance text amendments, previously scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Stokes County Commissioners Chambers, has been canceled.
The meeting is being canceled to allow additional time for public inspection of the proposed text amendment materials prior to the public hearing. The Stokes County Planning & Inspections Department is committed to ensuring that all interested parties have a full and meaningful opportunity to review the proposed changes before providing comment. New documents will be prepared and disseminated to all interested parties prior to the rescheduled hearing.
The public hearing will be rescheduled, and a new meeting notice will be issued in accordance with applicable notice requirements. The rescheduled hearing will consider the following:
Staff-initiated text amendments — proposed amendments addressing conformance with N.C. Gen. Stat. Chapter 160D, terminology corrections, conditional zoning procedure updates, M-2 Heavy Manufacturing District standards, use table classifications, and a new definition of "Data Center."
The public is encouraged to monitor the Stokes County website and bulletin board postings for the rescheduled date and time. Supporting materials are available for public inspection at the Stokes County Planning & Inspections Department, 1014 Main Street, Danbury, N.C. 27016, during regular business hours, and online at www.co.stokes.nc.us/planning.
