Just recently our church, River Rock at Odell Church, in Concord had a Lay Renewal Team from the North Carolina Baptist State Convention visit. This team was composed of Christians from Baptist Churches throughout the state. The thrust of the study was “Equipping and Commissioning of the Church.” If churches are going to fulfill the Great Commission their members must know what it entails to be a church on mission. We were not very long into the training before it was obvious that the average member of the church really did not understand what the fulfillment of the Great Commission entails, “’And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age, ‘” (Matt. 28:18-20, (NKJV).
